The U.S. Embassy in Rome, Italy was established in 1946 and plays a crucial role in U.S.-Italian relations. The current ambassador, Jack Markell, leads the mission, which focuses on promoting political, economic, and cultural cooperation. In addition to the embassy in Rome, there are three important U.S. consulates in Italy.
