Laredo port increases holiday traffic facilitation measures.

LAREDO, Texas — As the nation prepares for Easter Week, the Laredo Port of Entry, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), anticipates a significant increase in international travelers entering the United States via the South Texas border. This surge in vehicular traffic is expected due to the proximity of Easter Week, one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Increased Border Traffic Expected During Easter Week

"Easter Week is approaching, and we traditionally see a significant increase in vehicular traffic at our ports of entry," said Laredo Port of Entry Director Alberto Flores. "To help expedite traffic flow and reduce wait times, we recommend travelers utilize the CBP Home app to obtain tourist permits in advance, check wait times at border crossings before traveling, and select the most convenient port of entry."

CBP Implements Measures to Manage Traffic Flow

The Laredo Port of Entry will implement several measures to encourage orderly traffic flow, including electronic tourist permits and an I-94 processing facility outside the Laredo Port of Entry, located on the lower level of Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, across from Old Navy. This facility will operate from April 6th to April 19th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. CBP at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge will open additional lanes in the former CBP import lot (located below the bridge) as needed to process vehicular traffic.

Important Reminders for Travelers

U.S. citizens are reminded to bring a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)-compliant document, such as a valid U.S. passport, Trusted Traveler Program card, enhanced driver's license, or enhanced tribal card, when re-entering the United States. They should be prepared to present a WHTI-compliant document if requested by a CBP officer during a border inspection. Non-citizens attempting to enter the U.S. illegally or without proper documentation may be subject to expulsion or removal.

CBP encourages all travelers to have their WHTI-compliant entry documents readily available when approaching primary inspection booths and to declare all agricultural items, liquors, and currency or monetary instruments over $10,000.

Utilize CBP Resources for Smoother Travel

To help reduce wait times and long lines, travelers can utilize the CBP Home™ mobile app, which provides access to various CBP services, including border wait times and I-94 application. Border wait times can also be monitored using the BWT app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

To avoid delays or penalties for bringing prohibited/restricted agricultural items, travelers are encouraged to declare all agricultural items to a CBP officer upon arrival and to consult the Know Before You Go guide for a list of prohibited or restricted items before their trip.
