Because of its shape, Chile is also called the long country. It is located on the west coast of South America and has a length of no less than 4200 kilometers. Although the country lies on the Pacific coast, it also has access to the Atlantic via the Strait of Magellan. Chile has one of the highest per capita incomes in South America and life expectancy is higher than in other countries.
